Hornberger to Run for 12th Senate District
CHESTERFIELD, MI - State Representative Pamela Hornberger (R-Chesterfield Twp.) announced her candidacy for the newly drawn 12th state senate district. Hornberger currently serves as the state representative for the 32nd house district and was elected by her colleagues as Speaker Pro-Tempore for the 2021-22 session. “I have championed the issues that matter to Lake St. Clair shoreline families: getting kids back in the classroom, keeping government out of their homes and lives, and respecting the value of every dollar they make” she said.
Already representing Macomb and St. Clair County residents in the legislature, Hornberger is excited about her past work representing much of the newly drawn 12th district. The townships of Ira, Chesterfield and the city of New Baltimore are nested within the new senate district. “I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue working for these lakeshore community residents. Their issues are unique and I know them from my experience representing them in the House, working with them on the school board, and serving them in the classroom” Hornberger said.
Hornberger is a lifelong Macomb County resident and the daughter of small business owners. As a kid, she spent her days at the family business, Metrics Unlimited. After high school she attended Michigan State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She went on to receive a teaching certificate from Wayne State University and a master’s degree in education administration from Saginaw Valley State University. “The pandemic has shown us some glaring problems in our public education system and parents are mad. Children belong in the classroom and parents have a right to have a say in their child’s education” Hornberger said. “My work is not done. Advocating that our schools are working for our children, our economy is working for our job force, and supply chain issues that put a strain on everyone’s Christmas rebound, I have more work to do for the families of Michigan and the 12th Senate District” she continued.
Prior to her service in the House of Representatives, Hornberger was a teacher in the East China School District and a member of the L’Anse Creuse Board of Education.
